It takes dedication, sacrifice and leadership and many hours of training to become a firefighter. If you are willing to put in the time and effort, Laramie County Fire District 2 is ready for you to serve.
Volunteers respond to all types of emergency calls including fires - structural, wildland, vehicle; motor vehicle accidents; medical emergencies, and hazardous materials.
Applicants are required to fill out an application and will be subject to an interview. Applicants will be required to take a background check and must have a valid driver’s license.
If accepted, you will go through a 10 week recruit academy where you will learn the skills necessary to beoming a firefighter.

Probationary firefighters have two years to complete the minimum requirements. Those already certified may request to be off probation in 6 months after completing the recruit academy.
Mandatory trainings are held every Wednesday and third Saturday. Firefighters are required to meet at least 50% of these trainings along with staying at a station overnight at least once a month.
LCFD#2 Firefighters must obtain:
*Wyoming Firefighter 1 certification
*Wyoming EMR or EMT-B and CPR
Health Care Provider
*Wildland firefighting certifications to
include Safety, S130 and S190
*ICS-100, ICS-200, & ICS-700
